Safety & Contraindications
Read this before your first session. It takes two minutes and it matters more than anything else on this site.
This is not a medical device. It is not meant to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease. Nothing on this page or anywhere on this site is medical advice. If you have a health condition, ask your doctor before you use it.
Do not look at the lights
The beads are bright. Do not stare into them, and do not point the lit side at your face or anyone else's. Keep it away from children and pets while it is switched on.
Talk to your doctor first if any of these apply
- You are pregnant or breastfeeding.
- You take any medicine that makes your skin more sensitive to light. Some antibiotics, acne treatments, diuretics and St John's Wort do this. Your pharmacist can tell you.
- You have epilepsy or any condition triggered by light.
- You have lupus, porphyria, or another condition that reacts to light.
- You are being treated for cancer, or you have a mole or patch of skin that has changed.
- You have had surgery in that area recently.
- You have a pacemaker or any implanted electronic device.
- You have diabetes, nerve damage, or anything else that makes it hard to feel heat properly on that part of your body.
That last one matters most for the heat setting. If you cannot feel that something is too hot, you cannot tell when to stop.
Where not to put it
- Broken skin, an open wound, or a fresh scar.
- Directly on your eyes, or over a thyroid or a testicle.
- Over a tattoo that is still healing.
- On skin that is numb, or that you have just put a cream or ointment on.
Using it safely
- Start with the heat on low and a short session. Ten minutes is plenty at first.
- Fasten the strap so it is snug, not tight. It must never dig in or cut off circulation.
- Stay awake. Do not sleep with it on, and do not leave it running unattended.
- Use the timer. Do not run session after session on the same spot.
- Take it off straight away if your skin stings, itches, turns bright red, or feels too hot.
Not for children
Do not use this pad on anyone under 18, and do not let children use it or play with it.
Electrical safety
- Use the power supply that came in the box. Nothing else.
- Keep the pad and the controller dry. Do not use it in a bath, a shower, or anywhere damp.
- Do not fold the pad hard along the same crease every time, and do not pull it by the cable.
- Stop using it if the cable is frayed, the controller is cracked, or the pad smells hot. Unplug it and contact us.
- Do not open the pad or try to repair it. There is nothing serviceable inside and you will void the warranty.
If something goes wrong
Unplug it and stop using it. Then message us. If you are hurt or you feel unwell, see a doctor first and tell us afterwards.
Cleaning it
Unplug it. Wipe the surface with a slightly damp cloth and let it dry fully before you use it again. Never put it in water and never put it in a washing machine.
